The Role of the Third and Sixt
Committees of the United Nations General Assembly in the International
Law-Making
Dr. Kutlay Telli
Abstract
It has been already proven that the
General Assembly of the United Nations plays a pivotal role in the constant
development of international law. This duty particularly covers the
codification of international standards and principles. This article is largely
dedicated to the output of the work of Third and Sixth Committees of the
General Assembly. Most resolutions and decisions of the General Assembly seem
non-binding. Nevertheless, most of them always have a certain potential to turn
into hard-law norms.
